My name is Delca Castillo and my story begins in the Dominican Republic, where I was born before my family’s journey brought me to the Bronx, New York, and eventually to Massachusetts, the place I have proudly called home throughout my adult life. As the youngest of four siblings, I learned early what it means to move through life with independence, resilience, and heart. I became a mother at a young age, living away from immediate family support, and after leaving college, I spent three years as a stay-at-home mother. Though the path was challenging and later led me to single motherhood, I would not change it for anything. My daughter and I built a beautiful bond through our shared love of books, movies, coffee, music, cats, and quiet naps. When she entered high school, I returned to school and earned my Bachelor’s degree in Human Services. Family has always been at the center of my life. I am the proud mother of an incredible 22-year-old who became the first registered nurse in our family, a milestone that reflects the compassion, dedication, and service we value deeply.
My own birth experience is one of the reasons I felt called to become a doula. My labor progressed incredibly quickly—I arrived at the hospital already 10 centimeters dilated, pushed twice, and my beautiful baby girl was born. I will always be grateful for a fast, unmedicated birth with no medical interventions.
Looking back, however, I realize how little I understood about pregnancy, labor, and birth. While I had a positive outcome, I wish I had been more informed and better prepared for the experience. Having a doula by my side would have provided not only physical and emotional support during labor, but also the education and confidence I needed throughout my pregnancy. When you’re facing the unknown, it’s natural to feel fear. I believe that knowledge, compassionate guidance, and continuous support can transform that fear into confidence, allowing families to approach birth feeling empowered and truly cared for.

For more than 20 years, I have had the privilege of serving the Lawrence community, working with children from birth through 18 years of age while building meaningful, lasting relationships with their families. Throughout my career, I have been a foster mother, preschool teacher, ABA technician, inclusion coach, and developmental specialist. Each of these experiences has shaped who I am today and prepared me for my calling as a doula.
Over the past year, working as a doula has deepened my appreciation for the strength and resilience of the families in my community. It has reinforced the importance of creating genuine connections, leading with compassion, and being present during one of life’s most transformative moments.
Whether I’m holding a client’s hand, breathing through contractions together, offering comfort measures, or simply reminding them that they are stronger than they know, it is an incredible honor to support them throughout their birth journey. Witnessing the moment they realize, “I did it,” and seeing the joy on their faces as they hold their baby for the very first time is a privilege I never take for granted.
I look forward to continuing to serve my community for many years to come through Del Corazón Doula Care. My hope is to empower families with knowledge, compassionate support, and confidence, ensuring they feel seen, heard, and cared for every step of the way. Supporting families during this life-changing chapter is more than my profession—it’s my passion and my purpose.
I received my doula training through Doulas of the Diaspora and Birthing Gently, and I am currently working toward my DONA International certification. To further support the families I serve, I am also completing a Lactation Counselor certification.
In addition, I am certified in Adult, Child, and Infant CPR and First Aid, allowing me to provide families with an added level of confidence and preparedness. I am committed to continuing my education so I can offer compassionate, evidence-based care throughout pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and infant feeding.
